A project was undertaken in six drought affected villages in Shergarh Tehsil (Famine Relief Project 1988-89), west of Jodhpur. A comprehensive survey was carried out of the population vis-a-vis malnutrition and immunization, of children and pregnant women. A medical team visited the area every week. Children and women were treated for various ailments and all medicines were provided free. Those patients requiring investigations and further treatment were referred to the hospital in Jodhpur. Under-nourished children were given extra nourishment in the form of nutritious food and complete records were maintained.

An Immunization Program was taken up against six diseases, Tuberculosis, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough, Polio and Measles, and nearly all children in the age group 0-6 were immunized.
