Catholic Syrian Bank

The Catholic Syrian Bank, a leading scheduled bank with its headquarters in Kerala, made an entry into Rajasthan with the opening of its first branch in the State here today. This is the 305th branch of the bank which did a business of Rs. 5,800 crores in 2003-04 to register a net profit of Rs.56.50 crores.

The secretary general of the Rajasthan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, K.L. Jain, formally inaugurated the branch in the presence of the chairman of the bank, N.R. Achan and George Chemmanur, one of the directors.

Talking to newspersons on the occasion, Mr. Achan said the Catholic Syrian Bank (CSB) which adopted new logo and colour scheme on its foundation day this year, the 84th year of inception, was on an effort to assume a national character opening branches all over the country.

The CSB has the distinction of having computerized all branches. The bank's ambitious technological upgradation programme named "Business Intelligence System'' envisages connectivity through virtual private network.

The bank was poised to make a breakthrough in business expansion setting a target of Rs.10,000 crores business by 2004-05, Mr.Achan said.

The bank already has its branches in all the southern States and in important metros and has secured licenses from the Reserve Bank of India to open more branches. CSB has licenses to open branches in Anna Nagar (Chennai), Margao (Goa), Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Dwarka (Delhi), Gurgaon, Jallandar and Bhubaneshwar. It has three branches in Delhi
